Tennant Creek IGA a Finalist in National Awards
The Tennant Creek IGA was honoured to be included among state finalists for the 2025 National IGA Awards of Excellence at a ceremony held of the Gold Coast last night.
In March, Tennant Creek won the prestigious Community Award in the IGA State Awards of Excellence, which recognised community support across the best independent supermarkets in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Pictured at the awards are Chris Fry (Chair of the Tennant Food Barn Board), Debra Barnham (Administration Manager), IRAM CEO Jacqueline Graham, IRAM Community and Marketing Maroushka Houareau and IRAM Retail Operations Manager Shaun Whisson
“We congratulate the national winner in the community award category, Waldron’s Fresh on the River IGA Corowa, from Victoria,” IRAM Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Graham said. “Recognition as a finalist reflects our strong community support and cultural engagement with the Barkly region’s Aboriginal people.
“The Tennant Creek team works hard to deliver a quality shopping experience and competitive pricing in a remote and challenging environment,” Ms Graham said.
The store’s community impact includes contributions to local charities, sponsorship of butcher’s apprentices in its meat section, work experience for prison inmates, and the store’s health promotion activities.
“IRAM (IBA Retail Asset Management), a subsidiary of IBA, has a mission to shape the future of retail in partnership with the communities it serves,” Ms Graham said.
“We work to build sustainable Indigenous businesses in regional and remote parts of Australia and deliver community impact.”
“Our nomination for the Community Award shows we are delivering on our mission and reflects our focus on strong community relations,” she said.
“In particular, this nomination for a national award recognises the dedication, hard work and good community relations efforts of our Tennant Creek staff as well as support from the management team at IRAM and the ownership partnership of the Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA),” Ms Graham said.
“We also congratulate all the winners and finalists from last night’s awards,” Ms Graham said. “It was a night of celebration, where we come together to pay tribute to the collective efforts of independent stores across Metcash’s IGA network.”
The other State finalists in the community award category were Jones Retail Group (Queensland), Lovey’s Group (NSW/ACT), IGA Derby (WA) and Evans IGA Queenstown (Tasmania).
