Tennant Creek and Merredin IGA Nominated Again for 2026 Community Award
Two community-focused supermarkets managed by IBA Retail Asset Management (IRAM) have once again been recognised for their outstanding local impact, with both Tennant Creek IGA and Merredin IGA nominated for the 2026 IGA Community Award in their respective state Awards of Excellence programs.
The IGA Awards of Excellence recognise independent supermarkets that go beyond strong retail performance to actively strengthen the communities they serve. Judging criteria includes retail excellence, IGA Brand compliance, community engagement, merchandising, and overall performance.
The dual nominations build on an impressive run of recognition for both stores, highlighting their continued dedication to community development, excellence in customer service, and meaningful local partnerships.
Tennant Creek IGA has again been acknowledged for its deep and enduring relationships with the region’s Aboriginal community. Owned by the Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC) and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), and managed by IRAM, the store has built a reputation for delivering tangible community outcomes alongside retail excellence.
In addition to the Community Award, Tennant Creek IGA has also received nominations for Medium Bakery and Medium General Merchandise & Grocery.
In previous years, the store secured the prestigious Community Award in the SA & NT IGA State Awards of Excellence, recognising its support of local charities and community groups, apprenticeships and upskilling, and provision of work experience opportunities for prison inmates to assist with rehabilitation and reintegration.
Tony Miles, Chair of JCAC, previously described the recognition as a reflection of the team’s dedication and the store’s “unique relationship with our community” a commitment that continues to underpin its 2026 nomination.
IRAM executives, including CEO Jacqueline Graham, will be attending upcoming ceremonies were both sites will be recognised among a competitive field of finalists.
IRAM celebrates both 2026 nominations, recognising the dedication of their staff and the strong partnerships that continue to drive positive outcomes in Tennant Creek and Merredin. The nominations reinforce the important role community-focused stores play in supporting local economies, promoting wellbeing and creating long-term opportunities in regional Australia.
